Sickness allowance: Recipients and benefit expenditures by diagnosis, whole country

This dataset is associated with the dynamic report titled Sickness allowance: Number of recipients and allowances paid out, which has appeared in two series covering the years 2020- and 1993-2019.

Annual data are available since 2004 and monthly data since 2020. As of 2020, annual cumulative totals are available, and annual data can be obtained from these. The data are updated on a monthly basis by the 20th day of each month at the latest.

The dataset covers the following benefits: sickness allowance, partial sickness allowance, allowance paid under the Self-Employed Persons’ Pensions Act (YEL), infectious disease allowance, and allowance in respect of organ/tissue donation. YEL allowances have been paid since 2006 and partial sickness allowances since 2007.

The dataset contains information on the number of persons who have received sickness allowances, on the payment durations and on the amounts of benefits paid. Data on the number of new payments are available from 2020. The data are shown according to benefit paid and the recipient’s age, sex and diagnosis. The diagnosis is coded in up to three characters. This dataset only contains information for the whole country.

The data have been compiled based on the date of benefit payment.
